Greetings to all within the Millennium Dawn realm! I am Lynxivium – broadly known as Lynx, one of the mod’s developers and usually your EU overseer. Today I’ll have the pleasure of speaking on behalf of both the people that have been working on expanding the available technology, and the work with the EU content.

Special Projects Expansion

First, let’s talk about the technology part. We have two major parts here to discuss. From earlier teasers you could’ve already known that there will be a significant increase in available special projects to research. The SP aspect of tech expansion was headed by TheGeneral. Some of the new special projects tie into the typical progression of the game, giving more incentive to construct research facilities, while others give access to new unique tech, sometimes more experimental, even borderline science-fiction. There are numerous new SPs for all types of facilities available, so don’t be afraid you’ll miss out on the new content, no matter which research you prefer to specialise in!

Technology Timeline Extension

Besides new special projects, the other major part is the extension of tech trees until the 2080s. We’ve known of the MD Extended Technologies submod existing and being a popular niche among our playerbase. After MDET became defunct I initially wanted to take up the mantle and maintain an updated MDET, but coincidentally at roughly similar time players suggested integrating the submod into Millennium Dawn entirely. This is roughly the reason I diverted to work on tech besides my usual EU maintenance. And behold, several months in the making, work is reaching its final stages. Extending technology from more or less the 2040s to 2080s means that on average there’s four new generations of technology to research. This encompasses all available technology tabs and yes, this means that the MDET Titans will also be available, although slightly changed. Thanks to the work on the Event Horizon gamemode under XCezor’s direction we can present you the MD Walkers for normal playthroughs as well! Work on several of the tech graphics is still heavily underway, some being imported from MDET themselves and some being worked on from scratch — much credit to Alroza working on new GFXs, some of which you can view below.

New EU Enlargements

With that being said now I’ll move to the work being done on EU. The EU Budget had some hiccups that had to be addressed after the rework (like bricking the entire parliament). Aside from that though, there is a bunch of enlargements that will be joining, focusing on the releasables of Eastern Europe and a few missing ones (like the beloved Faroe Islands or Isle of Man). The Internal Enlargement also deserves to be divided looking at the amount of nations that started accumulating there. EU Russian Breakaway Enlargements

EU Optimisation and QOL Changes

While at it, we’re aiming at optimising the EU code, as it is a major part of performance and doubling the amount of joinable countries may not have such a good impact after so much work was done to optimise the game. Additionally we’re looking at simplifying the EU Exit mechanic and implementing the ability to rejoin the EU. The EU Budget tooltips still require some work for better clarification of its functions.

Thank you for tuning in and we hope you enjoy the features to come!
